Why Men’s Health?
It
is widely known that men tend to die earlier than women. They also have an
increased risk of accidents, suicide, lung cancer, cardiovascular problems and,
actually, almost all types of morbidity except for female specific conditions and
those of the connective tissues (which typically being arthritic type diseases,
they often don’t live long enough to acquire). The male specific illnesses,
such as testicular cancer and prostate cancer, although common, do not gain the
same coverage in the media as cervical and breast cancer, although this is
beginning to change. This has traditionally also been reflected in (lack of)
funding.
